Sooo, we rented a bike in Penang today, drove around a bit and then...flat tyre! bang! what a shitty thing, not just s flat but totaly fucked. The cops here are awesome though, called the place we rented it from, and yelled at him for giving me a shit bike, then helped me drive the bike to a repair place down the road, full motorcade! 10MYR($3.30aud) later all fixed. so we headed round the island to a sweet ass butterly sanctuare, awesome stuff, heaps of photos. then we proceeded to drive around the island in the hope of getting back to our hotel! 2 hour later and 30kms of winding roads, we finaly found the hotel! man what a day!

How Disney Shoved Monarchy & Hypocrisy down kids Throats

Went to the Astor a few days ago and watched The Lion King again. I wanted to see it because I had not seen it since I was like 12 or 13. With most movie that I saw as a child, I can instantly see what I liked about the films as a child, I also start to see some overtones that I would not have noticed if I was a child. Things put in for adults, by the writers I guess. Like in Shrek, where you see the bad guys tower and it looks like a penis, kids are not going to understand that...but I found it funny! So why am i writing about the Lion King?
1. This Circle of life is the Lions rationalization of brutality and murder. We eat the antelope, but when we die, we become the grass and the antelope eat the grass. Funny how the ones in power find it necessary to rationalize the brutality of the whole population, make it sound nice and neat..What if someone wants to eat the Lion? What then, should you let yourself be eaten because its all in the circle of life?
2. The Singing....WHY??? WHY???????????????????????
3. The juxstaposition of the free living jungle world versus the lions kingdom. In the Jungle world, where Pumba and the other one....rescue Simba from the desert, they do not kill other animals....they eat insects(yes they are animals...but on the scales, they do not talk and therefore can be considered as insects) they eat grains, berries, fruit and vegies! NO MEAT. i see some strange conspiracy there that shows to children that the real world, is all about murder, eating meat, responsibility is something you HAVE to undertake when you grow up... Beeing vegetarian means your a dirty smelly hippy, who is selfish and lives for yourself.
4. Scar...the begging of Americas pointing finger at the Muslim world. Notice how in several shots where Scar is giving his trademark speeches, his shots always end with the crescent moon on the back of a black sky with only a few stars! CAMON PEOPLE your beeing brainwashed!
5. Dry season = bad leadership! In the second half of the film, Simba returns to his kingdom to find it ravaged by drought, no greenery anywhere, bones everywhere, looks like a nuclear winter. I cant really see how Scars bad leadership could have effected the drought in that area? Sure he allowed the hyenas to hunt more and more animals, therefore depleting the food supply, but how does that cause the drought? What would Mufasa have done? made the elephants cart water into the area form the surrounding planes, therefore creating a water war between the jungle near by and the kingdom of the lions? what hogwash! How convenient that the area suddenly goes all lush green after Simbas rule begins! Had nothing to do with the heavy rain after the heavy fire. The fire having put up heaps of soot into the hot moist air, which in tern caused it to rain, which in tern started everything off again!
This movie Sucked ass. The animation was amazing in certain bits, especialy for a movie made in 1994, the music was great in some bits, specialy the chorus for circle of life which had like 50 singers. But the story is garbage! pure garbage, feeding the rule of monarchist born into power. You are what you are born Kiddies, do not try to be better, and when your King wants to consume you, give yourself to him to be eaten, because its the circle of life!

I love Reason, its a very granular Software Synthesiser application. You can do almost anything in it. By its nature it is TLDR, and thats what I like about it! I had used Reason 4 for a while and tried out reason 5...to see no major improvements! Now I see Reason 6 is about to come out...and all they did was add 1 echo effect, 1 filter effect and 1 distortion effect....all effects taht can already be made in the normal TLDR way via manual instrumentation... WHAT THE FUCK! If this is the way they are going, Ableton will take over this type of software industry VERY quickly...if it hasnt already!

I recently ordered 3 very large servers for my company. I run VMWare ESX on most of our servers, and anted to do the same here. I also wanted the system drives, where VMWare sits, to be SSD and to be in RAID! Now HP has SSD drives, branded by and tested by HP, they are $2500 EACH for 128Gb..HELL NO! So i got some high end Kingston Drives for around $300 a piece, 128GB SATA2, 2.5Inch. The most obvious problem with most Servers is that they have HOT-Swap drive bays with specially branded HDD holders. My reseller could not get them from HP....dont know why, but I assume its so people buy HP drives instead of placing cheaper drives into their servers. I ended up having to purchase a bunch of Drive Bays from EBay, they were $33.95 and are IDENTICAL to the HP bays. Down to the colour and pattern of the steel shielding on the base! Check out the Picture, the top one is the SSD, the bottom is a spare SAS I had to make sure it fit ok!

That whole week I spent working on my Clustopium project back at uni (not actually doing my uni work) finally paid off! I can safely call this V1Beta. Full web interface complete, supports dynamic nodes, storage systems, users and jobs! Everything is modular! Want to expand the system? Easy. Grab a computer, Install linux+MPICH2, add 2 entries to the /etc/hosts file, and add the machines name and ip into the web interface! BAM! wana remove a machine, click remove!BAM! This system is saving my company in excess of $450 per machine...NO MORE WINDOWS LICENSES!

I have almost completed the web interface to control the server node and the slave nodes. I have ironed out the scripts to run jobs via MPICH2 and have successfully ran a test job! Thats a milestone, it was way harder to get the linux version of mpd to run than the windows version. Next on the agenda is integrating the scripts to run via the web interface, and then running simultaneous jobs to see if it all works! Hopefully i will have the whole system up and running by Tuesday, so that i can roll it out to the machines which arrive later this week!

I run a small cluster at work for a very specific kind of vector simulation. We currently have 48 CPU Cores and will soon have 80 all up! My Problem with expansion is fucking Windows Licence keys. The Cluster runs in Windows so the people who run the scripts still know what to do....Just spent 2 hours typing up a tiny little PHP snippet that could control process handling, output and termination via a browser...that means, fuck you windows, LINUX cluster with 80 cores here i come!

Last month i got my ebook reader in the mail from ebay, and it had a sweet little bonus 32gb MicroSD card inside, which i quickly jammed into my Nexus 1! Ever since i have notice strange shit on my phone. Its crashes more, photos disappear, i put music on it via USB and when its mounted the music is not there anymore! WTF??? Dont tell me im not thorough in my testing of this thing....I thought it may be one of them, fake cards...so i ran some tests:
1. Full format in windows...PASSED!
2. Quick format using a special SDHC format utility from the SDHC society...PASSED! 3. Currently running a hardware write and read test on the card.....will take 2 hours to test!

In my efforts to incorporate my BT receiver into my Bikes Stereo Amplifier system, i have come into an issue. The 7805 Voltage regulator works like a charm, i get a nice 5v DC output from my bikes 12V input, the BT unit charges an dthe Amp works. However, as soon as i turn on the BT unit the whole system fails and reboots(well, you know physical reboots from a power spike) after some troubleshooting i have realized that the GND of the audio connection, is basically shared between both devices because they are both being powered by the same power source and share a GND as in this picture! My only alternative now is to just get a USB cable splitter and plug that into the BT charger unit. My Bike has 2 power systems a 12V directly from the bike and a 5V via a small USB car Charger mounted in the bike(DIY style) i use the USB 5V to charge my GPS unit, but have used a USB hub in the past to charge many other things at the same time! Looks like ill have to either connect a second USB charger or split of this one! How fucking annoying

Last night I awoke to a strange noise..a noise that made my blood curdle... The noise of the power supply cooling fan grinding against its ages heated non existent gears. Last night I decided to repair the power supply and not replace it... Recycling! I pulled it apart, pulled out the broken fan, inserted a replacement fan (that was pulled out of another power supply that was of no use to me) and bobs your uncle! The machine is not nice and silent, cool and breezy!

For me its simple. There are a few things that constitute a great story, film, book, animation, game etc... Good plots are simple for my taste. Here is the Formula(order not important):
1.Nazis
2.Aliens or UFOs
3.Science fiction or fantasy of some kind
Basically any kind of science fiction or fantasy with Nazis in the plot makes it a great plot! Just think about Wolfenstein, Indiana Jones, both the last crusade and raiders of the lost ark, the last Hellboy movie, and now a book I just finished reading by John Wyndham called Plan for Chaos. It was supposable written as a segway or prequel for Day of the triffids (the clues and joiners in Plan for Chaos are really small and minor, you would really have to have read Day of the Triffids a few times to pick them up. To sum it up, it has human cloning, the Nazis megalomaniac attitude to taking over the world, although in this story it was less about the jew killing and all, and more about the strengthening of the Nordic blood...(same thing but milder). There are flying saucers, amazing machines etc...Great read, i highly recommend it

The friendly people at both kobobooks.com and adobe.com have resolved my DRM issues... I still thinks its pretty retarded though. The process of getting a book onto your device i pretty complicated, The Amazon kindle has a sweet delivery system in comparison to these 3rd party ebook readers. This is obviously why the kindle will ultimately WIN, with tiger blood, the ebook war. The proccess i had to go though....
1. Get an Adobe ID from adobe.com
2. Register my ereader with the adobe service using the above iD
3. Download books via kobobooks.com
Dont know the procedure for other devices..If i get used to reading books on this thing I think ill do some research into the perl drm remove script which failed the few time si looked at it

I introduce to you the new buzz word for IT Sales Guys and Girls...THE CLOUD! It can do anything you want, it will reduce costs, reduce your power consumption, reduce maintenance spending, set your IT team free of those boring pesky IT tasks, bring your family closer together, get you beers when you are thirsty, save your children from a burning fire etc.... I have heard it all, but its becoming more and more prevalent now. Every Tom, Dick and Prahbu is now talking about The Cloud as if its some wonder Saviour of IT, the next big thing.. Whilst watching a recent tele-panel chat with a few guys from IBM, Microsoft etc... it became obvious to me that corporations are going to start pushing this thing to mainstream. The fact is, cloud computing has been a very low level IT thing for a long time. Outsourcing your IT infrastructure is complicated and demanding and only the IT department knew about it, handled it....no one wanted to know HOW the thing works they just wanted their morning LOLS to come in on their emails. The problem, is high level execs with no IT skills shouting things like 'THE CLOUD IS FOR US'... Its becoming another popularity contest like face book adaptation. So what is The CLOUD? To put it in a more technical term, its Outsourced Virtual Servers...I have my own cloud within my company, but no one calls it that..yet! The talk i watched was an hour long and in no stage was anything technical mentioned, just bullshit sales jargon! How about data location, security, ownership, physical control, our countries shitty internet system, our money grabbing telco providers who are thwarting any adaptation of cloud systems for small and medium business. Ill give you an example...A dual core 2ghz server, with 4gb ram and 100Gb Hdd costs, get this $400 per month...SO that means you dont pay for the power, you dont look after backups, you never have to worry about repairing it.. physically speaking....So over the life of a server with those kind of specs...lets say 3 years as this is the normal warranty period for Corporate servers....you will spend(for a physical server that costs $4k):

Not to mention the FAT internet connection you need to maintain your network connected to this server and the associated maintenance fees you will pay to the telco for this connection...WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE! How can you justify spending $14000 over 4 years for the tech support associated with a server....its ridiculous!

Virtual System Experiment - Windows Server 2008

I have been thinking about a migration for the company i work at for a while now. We use Server 2003, even thinking about an actual server to server migration makes my skin crawl...seeing as i have some spare time i thought i would run some tests, into how long this sort of this would take and what tick boxes i would have to tick..etc...My 1st issue was the virtual networking. IPCOP did not like my shitty network configuration, as pictured...its actually not a good configuration but a way for me to visually segregate the system. Had to use PFSENSE, a way more powerful virtual firewall appliance. Its way more TLDR than IPCOP but it has real firewall rules, and a proper routing interface that is not just based on NAT. Having set up the virtual network i began to troubleshoot the fucker..turns out i had to create static routes to each network, set up specific firewall rules....anyway 1 day later i got to actual installing server 2008, which is not as painful as 2003 used to be. I now have a fully working virtual network and infrastructure with one DC, 2 child servers, and Im currently building the exchange server to test the whole dirty mailbox migration move. Software like VirtualBox and VMWare Server make this job really smooth...VirtualBox more so than VMware Server, which has some performance issues which i spoke about a while back, for this kind of thing).

Im continuing testing of ESX 4.1 today.. Ran into some interesting limitations and decided to do things the good old fashioned way via terminal. Yesterdays marathon 5 hour troubleshoot was a pain, and in the mids of the 30 or 40 times i tried to install and configure es on the RAID arrays i set up, one of the install attempts must have left some crap on one of the raid disks....I removed this with fdisk and rebooted! Hehe..thats pretty much the end of that test server. Looks like i removed the wrong partition. SO now im reinstalling it all again from scratch!

5 Fucking hours of testing. So glad i did the testing stage before i rolled out. For 5 hours i could not install this fucker onto anything.... worked out from a blog entry on some german site that i had to turn of some virtual io subsystem in the bios...i so dislike linux...for all the shit windows gets, at least when something goes wrong i can work it out..with linux its like...baaaaah i got a boobo im running away into the void, goodbye and please restart me or i will keep crying waaaa waaa...fucking linux

After about 3 hours of troubleshooting i have worked out that my DR severs, all 4 of them have these weird ass LSI SAS controllers that only do software RAID. This does not really bother me, most systems i use will support software RAID and since they are not production servers, why not? Well i will tell you why not. VMWare is why not. This fucking shit, does not support software RAID on this specific LSI SAS adapter....And since i need to do realistic DR scenarios, i have to install and use vmware. What a pain! I have already built a fully funcional DR system using Windows Server 2008, WMware Server and Openfiler. Backed it all up as an image just in case, and am now installed esxi4 onto 1 disk on this DR server. Lets see if today is productive!?

The final test shows around 40mbytes per second write speed and 37Mbytes read speed, not fantastic considering. I set up a nother server using RAID-5 with 3 drives and Windows 7 Enterprise with 1 Gigabit NIC, and got 70-80Mbytes!

OpenFiler - Beta speed tests

After some major tweaking, i have completed my NAS build as suggested by Mr. A and Mr. G. Im using the latest build of OpenFiler on a Pentium 4 3ghz(dual thread) server. 3Gb Ram, configured with 2 x 1Tb SATA HDDs set up via a Software RAID-1(mirror). I have 2 x 1Gb NICs in the server, and have bonded the NICs to have a 2Gb link via OpenFiler. So far so good. Im getting good read and write speeds from backups but i cant really tell the numbers until now. I got excited and ran these 2 tests...but i then realized i was backing shit up from another PC and the results are probably slower then anticipated.Here are my results:

The results on the left are from a PC on the LAN, with a Gigabit NIC running XP Pro. The Results on the right are from my netbook that has a wifi-N card, XP-Home. Im using this software http://download.cnet.com/LAN-Speed-Test/3000-2085_4-10908738.html for the tests. Im not impressed yet, but i will do another test when the backup finishes.

So having left my job, i thought i would leave my boss with something he could use in the future for all of his clients. I am currently testing a proper, full on, double rainbow sized Disaster Recovery solution using VSXI. Currently have an HP server with an Intel Xeon Quad Core(2 Threads per core), thats a 8 CORES!!! VSXI itself is running on a 500gb SATA disk and the virtual DR machines are being restore onto a Striped 2Tb SATA Raid. Im restoring from an external USB disk...my 1st note is that its very slow to restore from the usb disk, its going at like 2mb per second...A normal restore goes at around 20-40mb per second... Ill have to work this shit out.

It had been a rather slow week. A busy week in terms of the amount of workload i have on. A boring week in terms of personal life however. Have been very much flat in my creative vibes for the last few weeks. Had planned to go Skiing next weekend but forgot about a friends birthday, so i had to bail on that. Work is getting be down more than ever. We have a new guy thats working 2 days a week for our company, i cant work out the mind the company owner had when he was hired. The guy is very inexperienced and knows very little about this work..Its not helping me at all, its really slowing me down. Training someone up is one thing but this was not the greatest move.
On the upside Im hearing that Zed has purchased his ticket and will be in auStralia sometime next month! Cant wait brew.

I have been doing system update tests on a clients server for close to 4 days now. As you can see i have parked myself nicely, with my own brew if tea. Last nite i finaly got arouns to fixing my right hand side speaker, that snapped off my Motorbike. Mr. A kindly donated his time, hot glue gun, dremel and drill to assist me in the efforts. The 1 puece of mechano that was holding the speaker up, snapped from the vibrations, but is not warmly enclosed between 2 similar pieces of steel.

Having free tickets: 3 Good sets. Ellen Allien was great, a very progressive and creative set-10/10. Seth Troxler was awesome, he messed up a few times but thats cool, I really enjoyed his time. Tigas show was FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE. We walked into the room with lasers flying all over the place, it was like a battle royal with Tigas - Mind Dimension playing in the background. Thats a 6 minutes, full color laser rampage!!!EPIC. His set was lame, almost pre-recorded. His visuals were very creative, he had a big stitched screen with books moving across it, i really like it.
A side Note: Proxy...WTF was thatr shit? And Marcus Shultz, I just don't get the attraction. The Muzzas love him though...oh lord the muzzas..PUT YOUR SHIRTS BACK ON AND STOP TAKING STEROIDS.

Im attempting to make my own sourdough bread this week. I started with a mix of 1 cup flour and 1 cup warm watter in a big glass jar. It should take about 4 days to brew. Every day i have to take out 1/2 of the mixture and add a further mix of 1/2 cup of warm water and 1/2 cup of flour. After 3 to 4 days it starts to froth. You then refrigirate it and its ready to use in the dough mixture when the bead is actualy made.

I have been working on some back end functions for this blog. They are all in BETA now, need to iron out some things. But i have been progressively making the pinnacle of what i want. Click on the picture on the left to load it big. In a previous post i talked about the Image Dumper that dumps every picture in my blog to the screen. The next step goes a bit further. It sorts each picture by colors and dumps them. This one is sorted Dark to Light. Bear in mind the process i use is not truly a color sort. Its an average of RGB values.

First things first: Big thanks to Dan, Rowan and Jem for putting me on the right track. Im creating some side projects that run alongside this blog. One of the ideas is part of an earlier page I did that dumps every single picture from every blog entry onto 1 page. To fine tune what i wanted to do, however, i needed to use AJAX. So cash this shit is! Anyway click on the picture to the left, its the 1st stage of my project. Every picture on the blog dumped into a grid of 15x15px pictures. I have a page that generates that picture in real time but its only really useful if your on the local network. The page would take about 2 hours to load up in full in in current state over the net...which is why im not yet making it public....before you say it yes, this post is not in that picture!

A few notes on the latest upgrade to Android 2.2. The phone is just as fas in general interaction. However a few thing are outstanding. Flash works very smoothly. Even playing a youtube video directly from a page is great. The inbuilt browser now has its own inbuilt file browser which allows me to upload files via html get and post commands. This was a key anoyance in the previous release, and made me switch to opera. I have since removed opera. There is still a bug there, in that if i upload a file choosen via the astro file manager, it gets added in with a back slash. The eorkaround is using the gallery, ehich is fine. VNC is lihtning fast now, it was choppy at best, even on wifi in the previoua release. Have not tried the mail foldr move issue, as K9 mail is far beyter than the built in client

OSC is a newish standard that will one day replace MIDI. I have seen many live acts perform using OSC devices. Stephan Bodzin, was one who really blew me away both in how he intercated with the equipment and the amazingly futuristic looking controll system he used. A very simple one I checked out on my Nexus 1 was FingerPlayMIDI - you can get it here. I used this on my Nexus, with my own layout. Its awesome. Very good repsonse times. It connects via a small java based server app that runs on your desktop or laptop. The java app interefaces with a virtual MIDI driver, i used LoopB1, which you can get here. This then created a virtual MIDI device that Reason can pick up. Here is a small video of me controlling a Synth with my Nexus 1.

Windows 7 on a Dell Mini 9

I had a few hours to kill on Saturday and decided to try to install Windows 7(Pro) onto my Dell Mini 9 Netbook. FOr starters i have a 1.6ghz n270 Atom CPU, 2gb ram,a abgn wifi card and 16gb SSD. The few problem i ran into at the start were simply to do with how to install it without a CDROM. I rigged up an external USB to IDE drive to an old DVD drive and did it like that. I also ran a full image backup of my current XP configuration and backed that up. I had a feeling that there were going to be bugs. The install took about an hour all up, after which i had 5gb of free space left on my SSD. This was the 1st light that went of in my head. I disabled the page file, that gave me 2gb more, and un-installed all the crap that windows 7 pro comes with like windows mail, movie maker etc.. and installed the Telnet client(which is missing unless you specifically install it). With a blank slate pc, no software installed I had just over 7gb free. My next test was winamp...Worked fine, over the network and from the SSD, but i noticed a few minutes into a song i was playing that the sounds kept crackling as if the CPU could not keep up. After about 15 minutes of troubleshooting, driver updates and adjustments to registry... i gave up(light number 2). So i proceeded to install Thunderbird and then AVG....Holy crap, soon as i installed AVG and rebooted the Mini was pretty much useless. Strike 3....Wiped the SSD and put the XP image back on! My conclusion...Windows 7 is not for the Dell Mini 9. It may work better if you have a larger SSD, and definitely better on a newer netbook with a newer Atom CPU.

They have not yet taken it down so watch it there because the quality is better. I suggest headphones as some of the sound effects are pretty funny and all 100% home made. The music was selected from 'The Darjeeling Limited' Soundtrack(Why YouTube will shortly remove the video r the sound). Thanks to Moon Moon for her creative advice. This took me about 5 days to put together over the last 3 weeks. I used plasticine, cardboard cut outs, little toy cars, wooden tongue depressors for the electrical poles and of coarse Blue-tac! This was hot using a Canon 20D.

I got all excited about the newly released Slyfire web browser for android. I downloaded it this morning to give it a good test run. How do i benchmark mobile browsers you may ask? Well i do 2 simle tests... 1. it must load my blog page as i see in in chrome. Skyfire passed with flying colours. It loads very quickly and its smooth. Zooming is an issue but its beta so no big deal. 2. i must be able to post a blog entry via my form...skyfire fails here. Kust like the standard browser that came eith my Nexys, Skyfite has no built in file browser..Opera mini is still king. Firefoxobile, which i tested a few days back does all this but its sluggish beta.

Firefox has been kind of sort of released for the Android. Its a 10Mb App which is huge! Its Fat and Sluggish at the moment, but its the 1st release so hopefully it will run nice and quick. It has some nifty features, like a side bar on both sides on the screen which you can flick to the right and to the left. I cant work out how to zoom in and out on this things, there is definitely no multi touch support yet. It does load pages very quickly though, and it has a built in you tube flash player, that is awesome!! It has its own built in plugins which is great and the full analli retentive control everyone has come to admire from Firefox. Would be awesome if they develop this to a full fledged application. The Add-killer plugin is one i cant wait for, as i cant modify the internal host file on the phone unless i root it

Here is a hack thats sure to make a few people cringe. Last week a client of mine was throwing out heaps of old computer gear. Part of the trash were 2 old back up tapes. They looked way to cool for the bin, so i kept them. After a short chat to mr. s about them, we both thought that it would be a great idea to put the tape itself through a reel reel player. Going on the tgeory that these backup tapes are A. Newer technology and B. meant for higher resolition recording. Seeing as i have a 1st rate reel to reel recorder, I did it. And you know what mr.s u were on the ball about it. I made some recordings on both the new tape and on some old tape but i couls only marginaly hear the difderence. My next experiment, blew me away, however. I spliced the old tape and new tape togethere with no gap and proceeded to record myseld howling into the mic. On playback, soon as the read head went from old tape to new, the audio quality was like apples and oranges. The old tape however has a good thick bass response, but too much high end noise. The new tape works amazingly well, with no high end noise, but slightly less than impressive bass response. Time to chuck out the ols tape and respool the reels with 90s backup tape.

In the last week, the seeds of my boredom have grown some really cool ideas. My clay-mation tests worked so much better than I intended that I think Im going to make a proper long flick with this technique. I had some really good ideas for the backing audio also. I tend to think that the audio in a film is, more often, more important than the visual aspect. Id like to make a small music video with some cool clay shapes and models. The music will be pretty simple electronic shit that i can put together in Reason, and i would like to sync up the visuals to the audio. A bug in Opera Mini for Android?

Im not 100% sure but i think i have fuond a bug iether in my coding or in Opera Mini for Android. It seems that if i POST some data, aprticularly a JPG file allong with some text taht has any kind of symbols, eg Full Stop, coma, dollar signs etc... The JPG is corrupted and fails the validation on my server. Thsi is only a BUG if Opera Mini operates via HTTP. If it operates via SOCKS it works fine. So i can start bloggin from the toilets again!

Its called 'Chemical War', what takes the cake is at the bottom of the box it says 'A Government Publication', meaning it was made and distributed by the soviet government, much like everything else. My new Nexus 1 has some MAJOR flaws. I cant understand why these BASIC features were left out by Google:

There is no ability to upload data using the FORM FILE type in HTML. So my blog is useless. I found out, this is because android has no local file browser....WHAT? Im using Opera Mini Beta at the moment to overcome this problem
I cant move mail items from my INBOX to any other folder via IMAP. Im sorry WHAT???

Last night i tested out my 5th running darkroom. The previous light sealing i did worked great. There are some minor leaks at the very top of the window but they do not effect the paper at all. Im pretty sure if i left the paper there all night, it would not even fade a little! Printed some photos last night, the workflow set up is good, but i think the developing tanks will need to be lifted up higher, because im bending over from my chair to develop them. I also have a chair, for the 1st time ever in a darkroom. The last stage of developing, the wah box, is also not the best. Id like to maybe build a small water pump based basin in the room.

My old dopod has been acting like an 80 year old man. Bit by bit its faulted. Bit by bit i gave fixed it, patched it up. I even ran Windows mobile 6.1 on it. Sadly yesturday however, i walked into a table and smashed the screen...the touchscreen still works but its totaly unusable. Gladly the phone is still fully functional so i got all my data off. I had a long arguement with someone about his placement of a Mezzuzah in a doorway at his house. He angled it in the opposite direction, which i found werid as ive always seen it angled with the top to the left and bottom to the right. Seems i was wrong! There is no rule that defines its angle...

You would place the Mezuzah at the bottom of the third foot from the top. The bottom end of the Mezuzah would be touching the top of the fourth foot counting from the top.

Heres a story of how Outlook 2007 took away 1 hour of my life, never to be recovered again.

My problem: Exchange 2007, multiple domain environment. Person X wants ot send mail from 2 different domains in outlook...EASY? You would think so.

Solution: 1 hour of permision modifcations, default address policies, smtp connectors....NOTHING WORKS.....after 40 minutes i thought to try it on Outlook 2003...BINGO every works fine! FACE PALM!

Problem was that oulook 2007 does not allow the FROM address to be type in manualy, you must select it directly from the GAL, that is if the GAL has updated properly

Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated my birthday in style, on Saturday. Massive thanks to all my friends for my awesome to the max birthday presents. A double whopper of a BR Laser Phaser modified by Mr. A and to everyone else, especial my Moon Moon and Mr. P for organizing my brand spanking new Nexus! The party was great, even though i had to kick everyone out around 2 am (sorry guys, i rent and dont want to piss off my new neighbors). Will do a video of the phaser this week as soon as i can get my shit together! Took some long exposure shots of the beam, but after an hour realized that the damn UV filter on the lens was blocking 99% of the laser beam. Ill upload some photos soon!

Yesturday was a shite day for me. A few things really got to me in ways i really should not have let them get to me. Firstly, it turns out the cleaner who did the post vacate clean on our old appartment, didnt really do much cleaning. And getting hold of him to re-clean was even harder. And im going to see a refund any time soon. Damn u Wang, damn u to cleaning hell! I submitted a omplaint against him to consumer affairs, doubt that will lead me anywhere but whatever helps. Secondly my thumb got somehow stuff in my bikes indicator switch whilst i was driving, i later realized that the whole glove was coming appart. I drove to Peter stevens and gave them my 2c worth. They took the gloves, which are not even 4 months old yet, and said that it would take 2 weeks to get them fixed/replaced. Meanwhile they gave me some thin fake wanky pair so i could ride home in. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE. Today i feel a little better. I coffe would be nice.

At some stage you tend to go back to the classics and wonder where and how and who started it all. Last nite was an experience ill never forget. Having little heard of Orbital before i really didnt know what to expect. I knew it was going to be a live show, they are usualy heaps of fun. I knew they were a huge act, which usualy means a big crowd. I knew 1 or 2 of the tracks, which is my bad really. In reality i totaly forgot who Orbital were...as the night progressed and the set ended, The lights went dim, the crowd went wild. And i mean WILD! The place was filled with hardcore fans. HARDCORE FANS, wow! SO anyway, they come back for an encore, start playing and i start to feel something, to hear something and remember...Those fatefull few chords, that eaary theramin sound, the long reverbed swooshes of space and time. It was the Theme song to the TV show Dr Who....Years ago, i had downloaded it randomly, and i mean like 10 years maybe, it was a live version, really shitty sound but everytime i listened to it, i was there. Where ever there was. Last night however....I REALLY WAS THERE. Live in person listening to Orbital perform, and i said to myself...THATS who Orbital are, now i remember where id heard them.

I wish i could write something usefull, and required a typewriter to do so. There is something so sexy about these machines. Something so nostalgic and oldschool. Even though I am too young to have used one for a function, i can still see the romance in them. My sister had to used one for school, i used it a feew times for school, but by the time i needed to write large ammounts of text, we had a computer and a printer. Whilst these machines have their drawbacks, and plenty of them, some like this IBM, is just awesome!

Next time you plug in an external hard disk into your windows computer, and it asks you if you want to format it...DO NOT DO IT. I almost lost all my 80gb worth of music that i carefully hand collected over these years. Turns out that the hard drive enclosure i used require you to put the drive into Cable Select mode else it picks up the disk as a healthy unformated partition! Damn windows. Brings me to a reminder that i need a raided nas drive for all my stuff

I need it! Im sick of this relentless heat and muggyness. Theres no rain, no cool wind, no cool change and heaps of mossies! Damn them, they keep me awake all night with their buzzing. Today im not having such a fantastic day, why i dont know, but im just not. Todays outlook on life is horrible, bleak, one sided ad pesimistic. I know that this will change but i dont like this state of mind. It makes me unproductive and blazze about everything around me. Last nite we maxed out the kitchen table, by hosting an impromptue dinner for 11 people! Thats right, i had 11 people in my kitchen!

Well, everytime i have a coffe in the morning, i need to go to the bathroom.And in the bathroom i write in my blog. This morning i point your attention to this sign in the bathroom of an office building im currently in. Its taken from the Washingtson Health services website, which is irelivent for 1 main reason. If you direct your eyes to the last 3 panes of this instruction booklet for the dumb, you will notice it says...rinse your hands, dry them and only then use a dry paper towel to turn off the water. It takes me at least 5 seconds to properly dry my hands....Lets multiply that a little. In 5 seconds i can fill up 1 glass of water. Lets say that the bathroom is used about 100 times a day on 20 floors...Thats 2000 glaases of water a day watsed because of some dumb fuck in the US of A! We are in a drout people! Use the Blow dryer

This morning, we got buzzed at our place. There was an electrician from the power company changing over all the power meters to those new smart meters. He said that we would be withotu power for 5 minutes! I was thinking to myself:

1. Iether this guys is SUPER fast and can replace our meter in 5 minutes or..

2. Hes goign to quickly hack the old meter off and connect us directly to the grid, whilst he gets the new ones ready to go and plugs them in in series....

Option 2 would be great, it gives us fere power for the time it takes him to put the new meter online. Ofcoarse he could have done the dodgy and put teh meter on in Series with teh old one and then cut the old one off.

Im sitting in this organic caffe in the cbd now. WHen i say organic,its one of those places that has fooood produced in an organicly certified way. Man the chick who works here is talking to some one in the caffe about how eggs are evil, and how they kill male chickens. Meanwhile im eating a huge muffin, there are definitely eggs in there. SO i turn to her and say 'Dude, there are egss in this muffin?' and she sais yes there are. So i ask for my money back, i said that after hearing what she said about eggs, i didnt want to eat it. If monday is the bringer of pai and dull begginings of a new work week, than Tuesday is an example of the etrnity that people spend plodding through their office jobs. Moving papers around their desk, numbers around their sheets, windows around their screens, letters to and fro. I notice a guy in the elevator today. He got out at the secon floor, was well dressed in a clean suit, but his posture and appearence indicated to me his complete lack of 'giving a fuck' about today. Reminded me of the countless numbers that plod the corporate world in the movie Brazil.

For me, Tuesdays are an inbetween the back to work drudgery of Monday and the sweet middle hump of the week wednesday. Today also marks the day of our notice to vacate our current flat. I gave 1 months notice last nite so within the next 30 days we will be in Fooby doobe doos flat!

I often bitch about corporate life, corporate offices, corporate culture etc... Today i would like to point out just a few good things. Firstly, last nite was the most disgusting sleep of my life. Its never been so hot in our place at night. NEVER. So to come into an office this morning that has their AC cranked up to a breezy 19c, Thats a WIN! Secondly, after a big feas which yours trully cooked up last night, I was so full, hot and tired that i couldnt even go to the bathroom. In coms the corporate coffe machine. Goood for coffes, cheering me up in the mornings and for most of any posts i enter before 10am. Thirdly, unerground parking. Theres something fancy about it. I love riding my bike into a huge underground parking lot, you can really hear the engine reverberate against the walls.

Thats what this week is all about. I have 4 days of work, an x-mas lunch on Wednesday with one of our bigger clients, an x-mas lunch at the belenki household...and did i mention i have to work this week! Its lame as! Im taking next week off though, so NYE should be good.

Speaking of NYE, it looks like everyone is passing on it this year, with nothing but after NYE and before NYE celebrations. This is my companys idea of good intentions. This portable AC was put in my office,its Loud as truck, the window needs to be constantly open for it to work,the blinds are bent and so let in allot of hot sunlight and it takes up allot of room. Was asked to pull the HDDs out of 2 old laptops for disposal and destruction today. These things were like thos white bricks of yesteryear. The disks were a whopping 810mb, which would have been state of the art back then in 1996. I feel bad destroying them, they are 13 years old and still work. Most HDDs these days are lucky to get 2 years of life

After almost 6 years of almost 24/7 operation my humble little desktop has finaly given up its ghost. I paid $1000AU for the machine, which is about 45c a day over 6 years! Good value for money i say! Thankfully, im anal about backup, so the ghost didnt escape so fast. I restored the image onto a new desktop and bang all good.... Well mostly, i got my lightroom catalog back and some other software which i needed for remote access, but the most anoyin thing is that the old machine had a F drive instead of a C drive. That was totaly my fault, installed windows with 2 hard drives...anyway, after the image migration, it corrected that back to C but then i had to repair xpp, install the service packs....now i found out that its quier to just change every registry key from anything fereing to f to c. So thats what im doing now. I hate computers!

Well that was an epic day! What a line up! Zombie Nation, Marco Carolla and Umek one after the other! Zombie nation are not a favourite of mine but they were good. Marco Carolla was Awesome! He slowly built up his set and towards the end when i thought Umek was plaing,Marco Carolla was still on! Epic! Umek was only good but i had never heard Retoxol live and it blew me away! Laurant Garnier was last but he wasnt amazing, we did hear Grindhouse by radio slave when we were chilling outside the tent, ranin to dance and met this awesome dude named Marco! Epic day!

Im always intriguied by how the Devil is depicted throught time. Especialy in movies and texts, but not so much the bible (the old testemaent not the spamed new one). The idea of the devil is not really portraid as the opposite of G-d or as a god type individual. The devil is often just an angel of darkness. WHat i find interesting is that the devil is often decsribe as a cold, gambling, precise charector...I saw the new movie last nite by Tim Burton, The Imaginarium of Dr Parnasus. In it, The devil is described and played as a gambling man, inteligent, mathematical, precise, cold etc... BUT one thing they do show is that the devil is FAIR. Not fair in the human sense but fair as in scientific. Logical would be a better word. My thoughs are that the Devil may just be another force in the universe, one that is niether destructive or creative but more influential. A force that explains chaos maybe. It seems that in some religious texts, science is sometimes described as evil and heretic! Maybe the devil is the scientific mind? If anyone with strong religious beliefs reads this, please dont get upset, just my opinions.

Man, my office is HOT..want to know how hot? Ill tell you how hot....But i have to wait until my watch cools off from my arms temperature...lets talk about something else now. The Melbourne to Byron bay trip is on!! And i mean ON! Well, in reality it all depends on Mr. P for now. He has to pass his L's test which he is currently doing, in 32c heat...that sucks ass! If he passes, then we are a step closer. If he fails, I'm on my own for the trip, which will be ok, but boring as hell! The next step is to get his Bike serviced, and because its a bloody bemah, there are like 3 places in Victoria that will look at it. Coupled with the fact that its summer, it was pretty hard to find a spot to book a service. Hopefully its all good for this Friday. Im sure the bike will pass with flying colors, but you never know. This having to shave every day is getting annoying! Think of how much of the wollowing resources would be saved if men all around the world grew beards and only used beard trimmers to neat their beards! So much water, disposable and non disposable blades, shaving cream, moisturiser, aftershave lotion etc... Think about it. If i use about 1 litre of water per day to shave, the entire population of 20million Aussies would save 20Mega liters each day by not shaving! People! We need to think long and hard about this.Is having a clean shaven face worth 20megaliters of water each day?????

FYI the number 9 key is also the M key on my phones keyboard, thats why the last Movember post was titled 9ovember... Anyway, its day 2 the mow is thinner than last year, but i hope to grow it sodeways like a dali style. Seeing as its Melbourne Cup day tomorrow, it looks like half of melbourne didnt turn up to work. I drove into the cbd today with almost no traffic and th streets were so full of parking spots it looked like 6am on a Sunday.

Oh man, last nite a huge storm came through the beach,there was so much lightning you could see the sea way out. I have not seen tropical rain like that since i was in Samoa. And today its hot, 30c hot!
